The washed Bourbon microlot was produced at Gakenke Washing Station, established in 1991, is located in the Kayanza province of Burundi. More than 2500 farmers deliver to this washing station, with each farmer cultivated an average of just 250 trees on roughly a tenth of a hectare.
Given the modest scale of individual holdings, washing stations serve as the primary point of purchase across Burundi, as most growers have limited space or resources for their own facilities. Cherry is instead delivered to central facilities, where day lots are sorted, blended, and processed to create different offerings.
In the cup, this coffee tastes like orange and dates, with dark chocolate undertones.
